The unique Z600+ coating gives the E-Klips fasteners a corrosion resistance of more than 600 hours, in indoor and outdoor, humid and mildly corrosive environments. The Z600+ system uses a two-stage process whereby a zinc silver coloured sacrificial coating is enhanced by the application of a waterproof top coat. In a 600 hour continuous salt spray test, clips protected with Z600+ showed only minor signs of white corrosion and no signs at all of red rust. In the same test, mechanically galvanised clips showed considerable signs of red rust. Z600+ is an environmentally friendly coating that meets the requirement for a low solvent content material. To comply with the new Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive, due to come into force on 1 July 2006, the Z600+ process is completely chromium free. Plus, Z600+ protected products can be recycled without any health hazard or environmental damage.
